L'École des Mines d'Alès or EMA, under the guardianship of the French Ministry of economy, finance and employment, is a french engineering university.[1] Its full name is Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Technologies Industrielles des Mines d'Alès. Founded in 1843, by the royal ordonnance under the command of Louis-Philippe, this school is one of the most ancient engineering schools in France Grandes écoles and of the Groupe des écoles des mines.

Their three year program leads to a diploma in engineering.

History

L'École des Mines d'Alès (EMA) was founded in 1841.

The Second World War (1914–1918) obliged the school to close its door.

Organisation

The EMA is a public national school (EPA) under the guardianship of the Ministry delegated to the industry. "Les écoles des Mines", are organised together, known as GEM (Groupe des Écoles des Mines) : Mines ParisTech, Albi-Carmaux, Douai, Nantes, Saint-Étienne and Nancy. These schools arrange an organisation to do research together (ARMINES) which contributes a lot to the technological innovation and the industrial developpement of France.

Campus

The main part of the school is in the city Alès. The students' dormitory is a little far from the main campus, maybe 2 to 3 km. The dormitory offers individual room or double rooms, furnished and equipped (internet). There are also a laundry, a kitchen equipped, rooms form entertainment, a bar, a auditorium, and a TV room.
